Lesson VIII - Get Defensive

Viruses. Worms. Trojan horses. These days, malware (software written for illegal and/or malicious purposes) is attacking PCs everywhere. Malware can assault and destroy your valuable data in moments. Most PC users know that in order to combat this threat, you should install anti-virus software and update it regularly to detect and neutralize viruses and other malicious programs.
But if you haven’t yet installed anti-virus software, or if you’re considering switching programs, it helps to know what your options are. Although Symantec and Network Associates are the two big leaders in the anti-virus market, with 50.4% and 24.2% of the market share, respectively (according to Gartner Dataquest, October 2002), they aren’t your only options.
